This walk shows a little of the development of the lower town area – a story which is usually forgotten in the history of the town of Cheltenham. It will take about an hour.
We are keeping the group small so there will be a morning walk at 10:30 am and this will be repeated in the afternoon at 2:30 pm.
Meet inside Honeybourne Gate, 2 Gloucester Road, Cheltenham GL51 8DW – on the corner of the High Street and Gloucester Road – at 10:15 am.
Coffee and tea will be provided at Honeybourne Gate after the walk together with the opportunity to go up to the roof terrace on the 5th floor which gives an exceptional vista around Cheltenham.
Please note there is NO parking at Honeybourne Gate
Neela Mann has spent her working life in radio, newspapers and publishing, latterly as the Copyright Editor for an international publisher and book reviewer for BBC Radio. She has been a Director of Warwick Words History Festival for 22 years. Neela is a local historian who gives talks and walks, many for Heritage Open Days. She is the author of 11 history books including “Cheltenham in the Great War”. Having grown up in Cheltenham, she and her husband returned 13 years ago – and are really glad they did!

- Bank transfer – please email events@friendsofthewilson.org.uk to let us know you have sent your transfer so that we can send you a booking confirmation. Bank transfers should be made to Friends of The Wilson Sort Code 30-91-87 Account 00005816. The reference must include your surname plus as much of the event title as will fit, for example SMITH WALKam.
