Date(s) - 9th Mar 2016
St Matthew's Church
Have you ever wondered why a particular painting, sculpture or drawing ends up on display? Why is that object picked out of many? The mystery of the “behind the scenes”, the stories behind the art works and the journey that takes them from store to display will be explored in Caroline’s talk. The recent changes in The Wilson’s dedicated fine art gallery, the Friends Gallery, will be a specific focus.
Caroline Waller is Collections Team Leader at The Wilson and as part of her role she also curates the Fine Art collection. Originally a student in Cheltenham, she studied Fine Art at the University of Gloucestershire and later moved to London to further studies in History of Art. Following employment at the V&A, London and the Arnolfini, Bristol, her love of Cheltenham brought her back to the town in 2012. Her particular specialism is in contemporary portraiture.
Venue: St. Matthew’s Church, Clarence Street, Cheltenham – opposite The Wilson
Time: Buffet lunch from 12 noon. Speaker 1.15 – 2.15 pm. Cost: £15; talk only £8
