Day 1

  • Nottingham Castle (group entrance)
  • Nottingham Caves (guided tour). Discover the lives of the people who found themselves living and working in this extraordinary environment. Soak up the extraordinary atmosphere of the ancient caves carved deep beneath Nottingham’s city centre, including WW2 air raid shelters and a medieval tannery

Day 2

  • Lincoln Cathedral (guided floor tour)
  • The rest of the day at leisure to explore Lincoln (some suggestions: Castle and Victorian Prison, Museum of Lincoln Life, Usher Art Gallery). Click here for a Tourist map of Lincoln

Day 3

  • International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln  (guided tour). Opened in 2015, the IBCC is a memorial to mark the service and sacrifice of World War II aircrew, ground crew and support staff who lost their lives whilst serving with Bomber Command. At the heart of the IBCC sit the Memorial Spire and the Walls of Names. There are two Peace Gardens.
  • Burghley House, Stamford (guided tour). A magnificent house, built by William Cecil as home to the dynasty that he founded, Burghley is one of the largest and grandest surviving houses of the 16th century and a wonderful example of the great Elizabethan ‘prodigy’ houses, built to honour the Queen.
