A successful conference

Over the weekend of 16-18 October we hosted the annual conference of the British Association of Friends of Museums (BAfM) in Cheltenham, together with our colleagues from the Holst Birthplace Trust. A great line-up of speakers included Jasmine Farram from Tunbridge Wells, winner of BAfM’s award for young curators; Francesca Canty from the Bishopsgate Institute in the City of London; and Luke Syson from the Met in New York. There was a good conference buzz, and people went away with fresh thoughts about how to engage the next generation. The conference dinner was held at the Daffodil, where the buzz continued; our after-dinner speaker was Peter Hennessy, the journalist, historian and academic. Many thanks to our sponsors; to our conference interns from Cheltenham Ladies’ College and Dean Close School; and to everyone involved in planning and organising this big event.
